We are fundraising to make healthy food accesible for all

Community Foodworks depends on donations from the community to run vibrant and inclusive farmers markets and food access programs that allow thousands of low-income families to unlock the positive health impacts of consuming fresh, healthy, local food while driving additional income for small farmers. The Washington, DC Metro area, has some of the highest rates of food insecurity in our country: 13.5% of all households and 27.9% of households with children are unable to access affordable fruits and vegetables.

Community Foodworks' programs allow small and mid-size farms to gain access to significant new sources of income. We offer stable revenue streams for participating farmers which catalyze farm investments and create more precise production plans to serve food distribution activities in low-access and low-income areas. In 2017, our wholesale purchasing generated more than $102,000 in additional revenue for local farms, helping these small family-run enterprises to grow their business.

Your contributions are essential in sustaining our innovative programs that change the way healthy food reaches the most vulnerable while further supporting local family farms. Visit our website to read more about how you can get involved with our organization.
